A "summer transplant" to Islesford, Kate Chaplin has loved to paint ever since she could hold a paintbrush.
Growing up on the island in the summers, one of her favorite activities was to pack up her watercolors and a picnic and venture out to capture her favorite island vistas.

Nearly twenty years ago, when Kate met her husband, Courtney, and moved to Islesford year round, the responsibilities of full-time work then the care of three small children made painting a rare occasion.
However, after attending the Artists' Workshop through the Islesford Dock Gallery, she has recently managed to find some time to get back to her art, this time in oils.
Whether it's the joy of a sun-drenched flag-snapping day or the serenity found in a foggy afternoon, I try to reflect the peace I find here in a straightforward, uncomplicated style.
